The Israeli occupation continues its assault on Jenin and its refugee camp for the 14th consecutive day, killing 25 Palestinians, wounding dozens, and arresting many, while demolishing dozens of homes. The violence has triggered a mass displacement of 15,000 people.
On Sunday, Israeli forces shot and killed elderly Palestinian Walid Lahlooh at the entrance of Jenin camp and wounded another Palestinian in the thigh in the Jaberiyat neighborhood.
Israeli troops simultaneously blew up around 20 buildings in the eastern part of the camp, causing damage to parts of Jenin Governmental Hospital but no reported casualties. The army also threatened to demolish the three-story home of Qusai Al-Saadi’s family unless he surrenders.
Journalists covering the events were also attacked, while Israeli reinforcements continued to pour in from the Jalameh checkpoint. Bulldozers demolished homes in the Dammj neighborhood.
Jenin Mayor Mohammed Jarar confirmed that 15,000 residents from the camp and Al-Hadaf neighborhood have fled, seeking refuge in 39 community centers across Jenin and its towns. He warned of a worsening humanitarian crisis, as many are struggling to find shelter despite ongoing emergency relief efforts.
Jarar also noted that the destruction of 20 buildings in the densely built refugee camp has led to the loss of multiple housing units.
Due to the ongoing assault, public and private schools in Jenin and its camp will continue remote learning on Monday.
